Built on Standards, Not Stories

Spangler Creek Farm & Kennels is a family-owned bird dog training and breeding program built with intention, patience, and respect for the dogs and the sport they represent.

For more than a decade, the program has focused on producing and developing high-quality German Shorthaired Pointers while offering professional training for all pointing breeds. Every decision - whether in training, breeding, or daily care - is guided by long-term soundness, performance, and the integrity of the breed.

Based in Wrightsville, Georgia, Spangler Creek sits just one hour from Waynesboro, widely known as the Bird Dog Capital of the World. That proximity matters. Tradition, competition, and standards run deep here - and the program reflects that environment.

This is not high-volume production. It’s thoughtful work, done consistently, over time.

Austin Trawick

Owner, Founder & Lead Trainer

Austin Trawick is the owner, founder, and lead trainer behind Spangler Creek Farm & Kennels.

He has built the program from the ground up with a deep respect for good dogs, good horses, and the strong bloodlines that produce exceptional field partners. With more than ten years of hands-on experience training, handling, and competing, Austin brings a practical, field-tested approach to every dog in the program.

His work in field trial competition has earned Field Champion recognition - proof that the standards applied at Spangler Creek hold up where it counts. Austin spends countless hours training, conditioning, and evaluating dogs, shaping each one with patience and intention rather than shortcuts.

The result is a program defined by consistency, discipline, and real-world performance.

Laura Trawick

Director of Operations

Behind the structure and success of Spangler Creek is Laura Trawick, Director of Operations.

Laura manages the day-to-day operations of the farm and kennel, overseeing client communication, training schedules, breeding plans, and litter management. She also serves as the voice behind Spangler Creek’s communications, sharing the program’s work and values with the broader community.

Her role extends far beyond logistics. Laura plays an active part in raising well-rounded puppies - handling early socialization, introducing foundational behaviors, and helping young dogs develop house manners. She also takes puppies to the line in puppy stakes, giving them their first exposure to the field trial environment.

As a wife and mother, Laura balances family life and farm life effortlessly, ensuring the program runs smoothly while maintaining the personal care that defines Spangler Creek.

Charlie Trawick

Chief Puppy Socializer (Unofficial Title)

Charlie is the youngest - and perhaps most enthusiastic - member of the Spangler Creek team.

From helping socialize puppies (because nothing builds confidence like a giggling sidekick) to joining the evening horse-feeding crew, Charlie takes his responsibilities seriously… as seriously as a nine-month-old can. He’s often found riding horses with his dad, supervising from the saddle, or famously falling asleep on the buggy while birds are planted - proof that even hard work requires a good nap.
